Pets and other Visitors

At The Alphabet Train, we have several permanent residents - in the form of our Tropical Freshwater Fish. All of our fish have names, chosen by the children. All the children love having them at school, and enjoy helping to feed them every day, and to occasionally clean their aquarium out.

As well as our permanent residents, we also have a lot of pets visit us throughout the year. In the past, we have been visited by kittens, puppies, tortoises, a pair of corn snakes, a pair of Bearded Dragon lizards (and later by their eggs and resulting babies!), Giant African Landsnails, White's Tree Frog's and lots more!

We believe it is an important part of the children's development to encounter all sorts of creatures - no-one is forced into meeting and greeting anything they really don't want to, but participation is encouraged !
